Education levels up!

What are the TWO uses of a SEMI-COLON ?

Here is a great explanation from GRAMMAR GIRL!

SEMICOLONS – by GRAMMAR GIRL

#1 – To combine independent clauses (or complete sentences) when a coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) is not used

EXAMPLE

He went to the mall; she stayed home.

I told Jim to meet me at Denny’s; I fell asleep in my car waiting for him to show up.

#2 – To separate items in a series that already contain commas

EXAMPLE

I drove to Erie, Pennsylvania; Munich, Germany; and Beijing, China.

I met Jamie, from IBM; Issac, from Sony; and Gertrude, from Microsoft.
