A PREPOSITION is a RELATIONSHIP word

It tells us the LOCATION or RELATIONSHIP one word has with another.

HERE is a LIST OF PREPOSITIONS!

What are the types of PREPOSITIONS?

#1 – Prepositions of TIME – used when referring to time

I’ll take out the trash in the morning.

I have a meeting on Tuesday.

#2 – Prepositions of PLACE – used when referring to place

The box is in the trash.

I found this sweater at the mall.

#3 – Prepositions of MOVEMENT – used to show direction of movement

He took the bus to work.

The cat ran towards the fence.

Combined with a few modifiers and a noun, you can string together a PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE.

over the fence

under the porch

in his ear

between the rocks

upon the roof

She is over it.

** NOTICE how the PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE always BEGINS WITH A PREPOSITION and ENDS with a NOUN or PRONOUN.
