What is VOICE?

VOICE refers to who the reader (or audience) is hearing when they are reading or listening.

For instance, authors write books that contain characters that differ from the author. They are creating a VOICE of a character and speaking through him/her. That character has a VOICE. Their beliefs, opinions, morals, ideals, etc. come through their VOICE.

You also have a unique VOICE. Everything you write is “stamped” by your unique “code”. You write differently than anyone else on the planet!

___

What is TONE?

TONE is the attitude of the writer toward the subject or the reader.

When you write something, you have a specific TONE, just as you do when you speak.

If you are writing or speaking about a subject that upsets you, your tone is likely to be bitter, mocking, or condescending.
