Hello students and parents,

This summer program is about getting you ready for the Advanced English 10 program. However, the work you do over the summer is graded and goes into the gradebook on th first day of class.

I will post exercises in reading, writing, grammar and figurative language every two weeks.

Some assignments will ask you to read and answer a series of reading comprehension questions, to watch a video and respond to a prompt, write an essay or a poem, or to gather clues about a subject and answer a research question or questions. Reading is the highest priority in this course, but we will be doing a lot of writing and researching as well.

There will be a new class module open on the following days:

Module #1 - Sunday - June 21st
Module #2 - Sunday - July 5th
Module #3 - Sunday - July 19th
Module #4 - Sunday - August 2nd
Module #5 - Sunday - August 16th

In each module there will be a series of assignments. The assignments will be available on this forum for the duration of the summer. After you complete the assignment you will post them in your forum page and I will grade them and post the grade on your forum page. You will be the only one who has access to your forum page.

There is no such thing as late work in Advanced English. If the assignments ae not turned in my the due date - the assignment will receive no points. Those points cannot be made up, because there is no extra credit in Advanced English.

In addition to the assignments, you will also find that each module contains TEST TOPICS. Those TEST TOPICS will be material you will be tested on during the first day of Advanced English class.

The first Module does not open up until June 21st, so if you have questions about how the forum works, please contact me before the 1st module begins.

My email is mrdaley@mrdaley.com   Grin

Also, make sure you are using a valid email address and that you are checking it periodically for emails about upcoming assignments, posted grades, etc. Sometimes I give opportunities to fix mistakes to bring your grade up, but if I cannot contact you, you may miss the out on the chance.

These are BIG files, so if you have dial-up I can make you a disk with these applications on it. If you have high-speed internet connection it will take 5 minutes or less to download each application.
